We are so happy to share that Miss Sweet Pea and Sir Cliff have shared a litter of beautiful pups. 6 girls and 3 boys were all born healthy and well on July 22, 2022.
Between Aug 26th and Aug 31 these pups will be 5 weeks and old enough to be "selected" via our remote video process or in person if you choose to come here.
After Sept 9th, they will be 7 weeks old and able to be picked up to go to your home.
After Sept 16th, they will be 8 weeks and old enough to go on flights.
Update 09/08 and 10th
We have had a busy week with a few of these pups heading out to be with their furever families. It's always fun to get to put a face with their names and meet everyone when possible. The 8th was a beautiful sunny afternoon and we took some video of the pups out playing before the family arrived. Then we did more video on the 10th before a family arrived and it was nice and cool with some cloudy skies. We like to try to get the pups pretty tuckered out before their next journey in a vehicle with their new family. It makes the whole transition go really smooth. The pups just want to cuddle and sleep for the drive and by the time they wake up and realize their new chapter of life has started, then they've already had some good bonding time in the car with their new family. We're pleased with the initial reports from them about how well their pups are doing now that they are "home". It's always a happy/sad time for us at this stage. We love their cuddly little faces, but know that they deserve more 1 on 1 attention at this stage of life with their next families.
Update 09/02
We had another family visit and took the opportunity to get a bit more video done shortly before they arrived. We took a little ride in the side by side and headed to our pavilion. The pups are still getting used to some crate time on the go, but they did pretty well. They are old enough to figure out some new terrain, so we introduced them to our little adventurous hillside. From the moment we opened the crates, you could tell they were really going to enjoy it. The are barely big enough to figure out our little passageway through the railing to the hillside. There's quite a step they need to make to get up and over the bottom of the railing. That's not the only challenge for them to experience here. The hill has some fairly steep parts and then there's the small rock retaining wall. The pups are figuring out life really quick now. We think you'll enjoy today's video.
Update 08/26
It's time or the "pick video!" This is our chance to get the camera set down and let you see the pups up close again and we share our observations on their overall personality. Let us know if you have any questions between them all.
Update 08/24
This is always a really fun play video time. It's a beautiful day to be out in our forest now that the pups are old enough to explore. We have our pavilion up the hill from our house, so we take the pups for a short drive to give them a brief crate riding experience that has a great reward at the end in the form of a new play ground. This is their first time visiting the pavilion and you can see how they are very emotionally resilient to handle a brand new space without their momma, warm right up to it quickly, and have a ball playing around. We love watching their happy tails and having them bounce all around, bumping into each other being so eager to make sure they've seen every last inch of the place. They are just about big enough to let them into the play yard we fenced off on the hill above the pavilion. Today's surprise is that we have our daughter's wedding soon on Saturday, so we are enjoying some out of state family visiting. Of course we'll let them play with the pups too after the pups have had their own time in the spotlight for the video. It's always fun to see the smiles on the faces of everyone the moment they arrive and see that it's puppy time for them.
Update 08/20
The long awaited update video is here. Thanks for your patience with us getting this one done. Our busy life is good, but busy. The pups are doing great and have passed a few landmarks. They have teeth and are doing great with their solid food transition and weaning process. They are still figuring out their "table manners" and learning not to walk in, or fall into, or play in their food and water bowls. They are really up and about with their mobility and love to wrestle and play with each other. Had we been able to do an update video earlier last week, you would have seen a slower and more mellow version of today's video. We've now added wood shavings to our puppy room so they have good traction and it's also super beneficial for sanitation. There are bits of bark within the otherwise yellow shavings, and we promise we're cleaning up and it's not little turds everywhere, haha. Some pups are figuring out the blinking light on the front of the GoPro camera, so we have to do a fair bit of editing to keep us all from getting sea sick watching them bump us all over. Some of these fluff balls are really good at sneaking up on the camera from behind us. We hope you enjoy seeing how their personalities are emerging as we see them interact with each other.
Update 08/05
It happened! They can see, hear and walk now. Their eyes are still clearing up since they are somewhat cloudy right after opening. Up to this point, they have relied heavily on their sense of smell and the tactile sensation of their nose, to smell for momma and feel where to nurse and it's incredible to see how well they do with that. Add in some eyesight and it's fun to watch them "look" for each other to snuggle or to venture out a bit more. They are in the cutest wobbly phase of life where they know they need to get up on their legs, but they aren't 100% coordinated enough to get all 4 legs going in the proper sequence. If you didn't know already, at this age, the second you move a pup is when they automatically either start looking for momma, or they go right back to sleep if they were the last one to nurse. So, that's why some pups seem pretty mellow and some seem more active at this age. It all has to do with their nursing rotation. We love the range of color we have in this group. It's always a surprise to see what we get each time. The breed standard accommodates the range of color we see here and even a little more on each end of the spectrum. We often find that the various families prefer a little more of each end of lighter or darker, so it's nice when we have a little of each.
Update 08/01
Thanks everyone that has reached out to us. The devastating floods were south from here. We had a fair bit of rain, but nothing more than the usual heavy downpour that lasts a little bit. The long downpour those communities faced was unreal and hopefully uncommon. These pups had no idea what was happening outside. Their eyes and ears are still sealed, but will soon be opening and you can see their change between this week and last week. They have also grown so much. They are much more than double their birth size now. If you look back at the flooring in the first video and the flooring in today's video, you can use it as a scale for size change from week to week. The pups are getting plenty of milk and Sweet Pea is getting loads of food to keep up with that calorie demand. We're glad she is voluntarily eating more and taking good care of these pups. Most people think that breeding is all about looks and temperament, which are important, but we also pay attention to how a momma's mothering instinct goes. The mom's not only feed them, but they also clean them and do a fair bit of informal but important training at the youngest of age for these pups. Without a breed with good mothering instinct, then it won't be long before the temperament starts to go down hill. Sweet Pea is doing a wonderful job. You can see in the pups "twitch" a bit here and there. This is normal and a good sign of their system development. They are getting more mobile everyday and the strength of their limbs is improving. It won't be long after they open their eyes, that they will be weight bearing. We like this flooring that is very cleanable, but also has enough texture to allow them to use their tiny puppy paws for a little traction. You can see their difference in coat color quite well at this age, but be mindful that if they are laying on their side, then they always look a lighter color. It's the area directly over their back that has the deepest color of their overall coat.
07/25 Update
We're happy to share a few snippets of footage as the pups arrived on Friday the 22nd. Sweet Pea went into labor Thursday night and we literally kept her tethered to the couch while Adam slept on it, so she couldn't sneak off and have the pups somewhere in the night. Neither Sweet Pea nor Adam slept much that night and then the pups started arriving about 9:30 am on Friday. The pups were coming pretty consistently throughout the morning and afternoon. After 7 pups, we thought Sweet Pea was finished, but after she took a little break, the last 2 arrived. It was quite the all day puppy party, but at least it wasn't a true all nighter as they commonly are. They are all good sized and have all figured out their nursing routine. The pups had their tails and dewclaws done earlier today and the Vet had a chance to look them all over. We're quite pleased with them all, but we are biased right! We hope you enjoy this intro video so you can see them all a bit.
